A takeoff calculator for HVAC ductwork: the tool a sheet metal estimator uses to turn a drawing into a quantity and a price.
Duct estimating is done in spreadsheets where the formula is hidden, the measurement standard is implied rather than stated, and the sheet gauge is a lookup somebody did once and copied forward. Every one of those is a number nobody can check, on an invoice somebody has to sign.
Ten fittings, two measurement standards
Rectangular and round duct, measured either to the commercial billing standard a quantity surveyor accepts or to the true shop flat pattern a fabricator cuts. The same duct, two legitimate quantities, kept apart on purpose.
Every figure shows its own arithmetic
Each result prints the formula with the user's numbers substituted into it, so any line can be checked against the calculator on the desk. A quantity nobody can audit is a quantity nobody should invoice.
Drawings generated from the same maths
A dimensioned blueprint, the flat pattern a shop would cut, and an isometric view, all built from the same millimetres the areas come from, so a drawing can never disagree with the number beside it.
9,557 assertions behind the arithmetic
A wrong duct area does not look wrong, so correctness is established by an independent second transcription of every formula, hand-computed anchors and a set of invariants, not by inspection.
Runs with no account and no server
Everything happens in the browser, so it works on a site with one bar of signal and nothing is uploaded anywhere. Takeoffs export as CSV, as a project file, or as a printable quantity sheet.
